IDS supports UH Maui College faculty and lecturers in their efforts to ensure success with effective design, development, delivery, and assessment of UHMC courses by incorporating sound instructional design with academic excellence in order to meet the program’s educational goals.
The entire process of evaluation and analysis of the student learning outcomes and goals results in the development of an instructional delivery system that meets those identified needs. It also includes development of instructional materials and activities that are linked to evaluation methods of all instruction and learner activities.

Instructional Design
Implementing an Instructional Development Model encourages the establishment of guidelines for a systematic instructional methodology that provide well-developed & instructionally sound courses that are effective at delivering learner-centered instruction and linking to student outcomes & assessment.
Selecting the most effective instructional strategies to facilitate learning is a matter of creativity and sound judgment. Using 'best-e design will establish instructional objectives & student learning outcomes that address both content and mode of instruction in a manner that is clear and measurable, which will be communicated directly to the learners.

At the basic level, as shown to the left, instruction can be broken down into five major components: Course Design, Collaboration, Learner Support, Technology, and Assessment.
We assists educators with instructional development to support traditional, authentic, and alternative learning and assessment processes; and all course materials should be purposeful, accessible, logically organized, and available to students.
